Boondocks Bootleg - Unofficial Official Blog of The Boondocks

Now I have been a fan of the Boondocks since the first season and have seen every episode. It is the first animated cartoon that I have seen devoted toward African Americans and I love the characters especially Huey for his reserved attitude and likeness for martial arts. But after watching the 1st episode of season 3 about Obama and the first 10 minutes of the new episode about uncle Ruckus, im starting to feel a little insulted as a African American.Neither one of these episodes were funny to me and seemed just staight out disrespectful. Now dont get me wrong, I know the Boondocks has strong racial opinions but it worries me when it gets this serious.

Boondocks doesn't just cater to black people. I've seen many white people claiming it to be their favorite Adult Swim show. The Obama episode was not racist. I thought it was great, though as an Obama supporter I didn't agree with the messege being sent.

I personally don't see what was wrong with the Uncle Ruckus episode though.

Only time I think they crossed the line was the deleted Rosa Parks scene but hey it was deleted.
I think it hilarious in my opinion and he's not a racist either,bc we have to laugh at ourself bc we do some down right hilarious stuff that goes uncheck, that's all he's doing is bringing it to light on the tube, and see it for our selves "how we do".
For one thing, the word racist is thrown around so much that people have forgotten what it even means. You should look it up.

Also, I saw nothing racist in the Obama episode. In fact, I thought it was the first time that what really happened in the Black community regarding Obama's election had really been addressed. Let's be real, the majority of Black people voted for him because he was Black. And everyone made a huge deal over his "change" and "hope" mantras. Any Black person who wasn't behind him WAS vilified by the community, and even CNN has reported studies that show Blacks are realizing now that he was a lot of hype.

It's sad that as a people, we're trained to immediately by into the terms "racist" and "racism" at any chance. As a result, anytime we're shown the truth, we run back to those words like a kid to his mama's leg.
I'm confused, you claim to be a fan. But yet you're missing the whole point of the show.
If anything, all the Obama episode did was what the Boondocks always does.TAKE A BALLSY STANCE ON A CONTRAVERSIAL ISSUE!
I agree that sometimes it feels like they go a little too far, but at the same time, think about what the moral of each episode is. Most of it wants to educate society, mostly the black society. The show wants us to realize that we "niggas" are acting a fool. We are making ourselves look bad through our actions, and I'm not saying every black person acts a fool but many do, and we need to realize how it is making us look.
Just check the videos they put up here on the site. There are alot of prejudices about black people, like smoking weed, selling drugs, driveby's and all that gangsta shit.
The show is explicit because it speaks the truth, and the truth hurts.
The truth is that we're making ourselves look bad.
Compare Huey and Riley's personalities, they are two sides of the same coin.
Thank You.

Don't get me wrong, but I personally think that 'Boondocks' isn't racist enough. Jimmy Rebel is just the tip of that proverbial iceberg. What?? Just cuz Obama got in the white house, like everything is okay now?? I am not trying to actually start shit, but I am actually in shock that no one has actually tried to throw some hot lead his way yet. Art imitates life, and a lot of times vice versa.

Think that I am overstating things?? I actually heard someone on satellite radio the other day requesting 'Jimmy Rebel' songs. I had to laugh at that, cuz it became obvious to me, that caller had no idea what the boondocks was and thought he was a real singer. Strange huh??
Thanks so much for saying this. I know people from Africa who think that American Blacks give them a bad name, at least to people who judge by color alone. And, yes, I said "Blacks." I've been around since the fifties, and I get really tired of changing what I am supposed to call some ethnic groups, because they can't seem to make up their minds regarding what they want to be called. "Call us this, oh, sorry, now what we wanted to be called then we find offensive now." Bunch of crap.

And, I'm an Injun, and I know more about Africa than do most blacks I meet, so I refuse to call them "African-Americans." The only people who deserve this title, IMO, are my friends who are actually from Africa, and who immigrated here, and became American citizens. They are African-Americans, and everyone else, including me, are just Americans.

I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda offended by "The Story Of Jimmy Rebel" episode which was not only the runner up for least favorite episode from all seasons, (It's Going Down sucked ass, can't believe it was the show they decided to end the series with) but threw so many racist terms out, it just wasn't funny. I have to disagree with you on the Obama episode tho, it wasn't racist and it was one of the best shows from that season because it had that same flare as the shows from season 1, which was more fact then fiction. That's the way we (black people) acted. If we can't laugh at ourselves then maybe we should stop the stand up comedians from telling the rest of the world how "black people do" and how their race does.
my goodness. they did not end the series.
