MUSIC: UNDER THE RADAR - MIC STEWART

Philly based emcee Mic Stewart's name has been ringing in people's ears lately around the northeast. A conventional Hip Hop style from a nonconventional perspective with nonconventional 'looks', hailing from a conventional Hip Hop city, he certainly isn't...well...conventional. But he certainly has had people talking. He's no stranger to the camera or stage (go ahead and youtube him) winning the D.C. branch of the Tag Records MC Competition in 2008 - and word around the camp fire is he may be getting some production help from legendary Philly Emcee/Producer Dice Raw (The Roots).

Here's a polished song called "Throw Your Hands Up". You can tell pretty much from the get, the kid's got talent. And what's a blogosphere if not something to help you brag to your friends that you knew about an emcee "way back when"? Well, for Mic Stewart, "way back when" could be right now.

And don't be quick to write this off as 'blog rap'. His lyrical skill set combined with Dice Raw's production skills and experience has potential to transcend Mic Stewart beyond the blogs, and into the indie spotlight.
